Central Bankers Courses

The Study Center Gerzensee offers courses to central bank economists from all around the world. We strive to provide courses of the highest quality and relevance to central bankers. Many of these courses are taught by internationally renowned faculty.

While all courses are designed for economists, they target different audiences within central banks. One set of courses is designed for participants with strong research interests, either in financial economics or in monetary economics. Another set of courses is designed for middle-level central bank managers in the areas of financial economics, banking, and monetary economics.

A large variety of teaching methods are used in the courses, taking full advantage of the small class size and the infrastructure at the Study Center. Topics are generally introduced in a classroom lecture. Group work, case studies, computer exercises, and discussions allow to further deepen the understanding of the various subjects, with the exchange of ideas among participants from different countries consistently proving to be a highly valuable experience. The activities at the Study Center are typically complemented by a visit to the Swiss National Bank or other financial institutions. Excursions to the most beautiful areas of Switzerland provide a welcome change to the academic work.

Worldwide, more than one hundred and fifty central banks have cooperated with the Study Center Gerzensee.
