Foundation

The Study Center Gerzensee was established in 1984 as a foundation of the Swiss National Bank. We opened our doors in 1986 to serve as an international training and conference center for economists and central bank staff.

Academic Mission Statement

The Study Center Gerzensee is a non-profit provider of services to economists in academia and policy. The Study Center offers excellent graduate training and continuing education in economics. The Study Center is also an internationally renowned forum for economic debate. We have a particular focus on topics relevant to central banking.

We aim to develop talented scholars in economics, advance economic insights and foster interaction between academia and policy. Our activities strengthen the role of Switzerland as a place of economic debate.

We attract leading scholars to ensure excellence in all our activities. We complement and support the programs of public and private institutions. Our own academic research underpins the quality of our programs. We are impartial.

Foundation Council

Our foundation council is entrusted with the strategic oversight of our academic activities and the governance of our operations.
