#TimetoCelebrate 40 years of Central Bankers Courses

1 min read

Founded in 1984 as a foundation of the Swiss National Bank, the Study Center hosted its very first course in May 1986. Though the world and the economy have been constantly changing, one constant persists: our commitment to deliver outstanding continuing education for central bankers, world-class training for graduate students, and fostering a global meeting place for economists from academia and policy.

Since the first day, we have been offering continuing education to central bank economists. Staff from more than 150 monetary authorities have participated in our courses. Today we offer several courses per year, each lasting for two weeks and with participants from different central banks. Our courses provide a unique combination of academic rigour and central bank practice and open up opportunities for central bank economists from all around the world to exchange their experiences and ideas. Over the decades, many leading scholars have taught at the Study Center Gerzensee.

Over the decades, many leading scholars have taught at the Study Center Gerzensee, e.g. Lawrence J. Christiano, Giancarlo Corsetti, Thierry Foucault, Jean-Charles Rochet, Stephanie Schmitt-Grohé, and Carl Walsh.

Thanks to all our participants, lecturers, and attendees who have made and continue making Gerzensee a unique hub for knowledge exchange and economic dialogue.
